Culture of Life Committee
Our pro-life group aims to promote the sanctity of life from conception to natural death. We combat the culture of death within our society by portraying every life as a gift from God. We do this by means of our pro-life activities within the parish and our educational articles in the parish bulletin. Please join us if you share in our ‘passion for life’. We meet the second Wednesday of every other month.
Every year, at Christmastime, St. John’s collects and distributes over 1000 gifts to thirteen different institutions in the Chelmsford, Lowell, and Boston areas. We are always in need of volunteers to write out gift tags, collect and distribute gifts.
Social Justice Committee
From the mission of our parish, having everyone involved in justice and service is central to who we are. The Social Justice Committee of St. Johns works to engage the parishioners of St. Johns with social justice issues and supports the functioning of the existing ministries. St. Johns uses the framework for social justice from the U.S. Bishops’ Statement, Communities of Salt and Light: Reflections on the Social Mission of the Parish. The Bishops remind us that service and action, charity and justice, are complementary components of parish social ministry. Neither alone is sufficient; both are essential signs of the Gospel at work. Your participation is most welcome as we bring the church’s teachings to our lives, our parish and the better community.
St. Vincent de Paul Society
The St.Vincent de Paul Society is an international Catholic organization of lay people that provides food, assistance, and referrals for those in need. In addition to monthly meetings, the time requirement is approximately 1-2 hours weekly.
St, John’s has been providing meals and serving the homeless as the Lowell Transitional Shelter for the past 8 years! We are always looking to invite our Parishioners to join this wonderful and MUCH needed ministry by helping us with food preparation (Lasagne, Salad & Desserts) or by serving meals.
